	How to interpret the results?


	The information you will see on the box shows the real-time availability of inca trail permits and comes from the Peruvian government database (National Institute of Culture) and is given in SPANISH. Disponibilidad de Espacios means Availability of Spaces. MES = Month The months in Spanish are as follows: ENERO = January FEBRERO = February MARZO = March ABRIL = April MAYO = May JUNIO = June JULIO = July AGOSTO = August SEPTIEMBRE = September OCTUBRE = October NOVIEMBRE = November DICIEMBRE = December FECHA = Date The number of remaining spaces for each day of the month will be shown under DISPONIBLES. The maximum number of Inca Trail permits is 500. Support staff is included within the five hundred, meaning that about 200 pemits are allocated for tourists and about 300 for cooks, porters and guides each day.

	"...During the peak months of July and August from 1996 to 2001 as many as 1500 people were starting the Inca Trail trek everyday (about 1000 tourists and 500 porters) . There were no regulations and many trekkers camped wherever they wanted, using the ruins as toilets and discarding rubbish along the trail. The Inca Trail was starting to receive a lot of negative press and UNESCO threatened to remove its status as a World Heritage Site. In order to protect the site the Peruvian government introduced new Inca Trail Regulations in 2002. These regulations restrict the number of trekkers and prevent trekkers from doing the trail independently..."



	As the system is on a first-come first-served basis, Often around 100 spaces can sell out in a day. That is why we highly recommended to book your Inca Trail as far in advance as possible. Each reservation must include complete names, nationality, date of birth and passport number.
